JIBC Basic Security Training (BST) Practice Test

One of the general duties of security personnel is to protect buildings and grounds. This involves ensuring the safety and security of the premises, which may include monitoring access points, conducting patrols, and responding to security incidents. The role is primarily focused on safeguarding property, people, and assets against theft, vandalism, and unauthorized access.

Security personnel play a crucial role in maintaining a secure environment by following established protocols to mitigate risks. This may involve using surveillance systems, enforcing security policies, and collaborating with local law enforcement when necessary. The emphasis on the protection of physical space is fundamental to the security industry, which aims to prevent incidents before they occur and respond effectively when they do.

In contrast, engaging in law enforcement is typically the duty of police officers and not private security personnel. Providing legal counsel falls outside the scope of security roles, as that requires professional legal training. Conducting financial audits is usually performed by accountants or financial professionals and not related to the duties of security personnel.
